Went today for the first time. We happened to be in Katy for some post-Christmas returns and I'd been wanting to try this place. We pulled in around 1:30, expecting it to be fairly empty. It wasn't ... and customers continued to trickle in while we were there. As others have mentioned, it's a small establishment, so only a few tables, but plenty of seating along the wall bars. Also, it does take a bit longer than you might expect for the food to come out, as the owners only start your order once it's been placed. Our lunch was EXCELLENT. I had the haddock and chips. Husband had cod and chips. We both preferred the haddock. The portions are massive. We are hearty eaters but I was only able to finish half of my plate and husband ate maybe 2/3 of his. Next time we go, I'll try the shrimp, too. I heard several people who arrived after us ordering the shrimp. Haven't had fish and chips this delicious since we were in England. PS, Went to the croissant shop a couple doors down for a take-home treat later. That shop was also a pleasant delight!

Excellent Fish and Chips! It's the real deal, always served with quality! The only thing that's missing is wrapping it in newspaper like you might get in the UK!

My husband loves your fish. You know him as KEVIN. He always tells me you greet him by name every time he walks in the front door. I think he loves the owner more than the food

Great flaky cod w light, crisp batter coating and possibly the best fries (ok, ok, chips) I've ever had in a restaurant. Portions are large and served piping hot. Excellent house made tartar sauce.

A stone's throw from Katy Mills Mall, if you want to grab a great bite to eat away from the hustle and bustle of the mall, head there. Seems to be owned by an old mom and pop pair. They were warm friendly and welcoming. Food was made to order, piping hot and the house made tartar sauce is great! Had the haddock and chips and he had the cod and chips (known on this side of the pond as French fries). Both were delicious and the portions were generous. Went around the tail end of the lunch rush, so the place was quiet. Will def return if I'm in the area.

The Chipper had been recommended numerous times, so decided to give it a try. First attempt, came on a Monday and they were closed. Their hours on Yelp are not correct. They are Tuesday through Saturday 11am - 8pm. This is owned by an older husband and wife, so be patient! They don't do social media so the hours misrepresented are not their fault. Don't come here if you're in a rush either, they make each plate fresh! You can watch them batter and prep your meal. They are extremely sweet! Reminds me of my grandparents and the fact their still moving as they do, kudos! So I got the haddock fish + chips, which is $17. I thought that was a little steep but once you get your plate, you'll understand! The fish filet is HUGE! My son originally didn't want anything. After he tried a bite, he loved it too! We were easily able to share this single piece of fish and both be full! The fish was and chips were piping hot and you could taste the freshness! Perfect crisp on the fish, they're the definition of how it should be prepared. They have other options too. I'll venture and try others another time. But for now, I am back at the craving of my son and I to have it again...2x in one week is telling to how much we enjoyed it! You can dine in or eat out, both times we're doing to go. We also ordered the shrimp today, so we'll be trying something new. Highly recommend this literal mom and pop establishment!

The best French Fries "chips" around and the portions are huge. This is a small place and they are cooking things fresh. Other reviews mentioned a 15 minute wait which I am fine with but I had a 30 minute wait which I think is a bit much. The fish comes in one very large long plank which I wish they had cut in half. Towards the middle was not cooked through. Like others mentioned it is kind of pricey compared to other places. Fish, chips and a bottled water was a little over $20 not counting tip. They do have to go orders, but I would be sure to call the order in to eliminate the long wait.
